About
us
Buddhasland
is a project that has been initiated by
foreigners who have settled in Kullu-Manali
and Indians in the valley. While some
of us are therapists, we are all involved
with spiritual development on a personal
and on a social level sharing the feeling
of a need to create a healthy balance
in everyday life for ourselves and the
environment we're living in. Coming from
different parts of the world we joined
together so that we can be more effective
in our pursuit and share the fruits of
creating a healthy and positive environment.
This project is an invitation to everybody
interested in working on a life that combines
spiritual development and work.
Buddhasland
offers organic agriculture, alternative
medicine and treatments, meditation retreats,
trekking and tours as well as social programs.
Each participant can freely combine from
our various offers to create a stay in
the Himalayas that is most useful to him/her.
Let us know your priorities and your time-frame
and we will advise you on a program that
makes the best use of your time here.
Aims
and principles
a)
Buddhasland promotes different methods
and traditions for personal spiritual
development and better health. We want
to care for our bodies by session and
teachings in alternative treatment and
herbal medicine. The courses are held
by professional staff throughout the year
and are flanked by meditation retreats
and Buddhist dharma teachings. Apart from
our regular staff we also invite competent
teachers and therapists from around the
globe.
b)
Buddhasland provides a space for people
to come and produce art, which we will
then actively promote. Being run by people
from a wide variety of backgrounds we
are interested in cultural exchange on
all levels. For this purpose we cooperate
with different artists to organize concerts,
exhibitions and other events.
c)
Buddhasland is actively involved in welfare
projects in the Kullu-valley. Infusing
the local community with a sense of social
hygiene, ecological awareness and environmental
maintenance are top priorities. The project
aims at creating a public library and
funds classes for improving reading and
writing skills as well as teaching English
as a foreign language. We provide employment
opportunities by supporting and engaging
in environmentally sustainable small industries
and promoting local handicrafts and handlooms.
d)
Buddhasland is involved in organic farming,
water-management and the promotion of
alternative energy resources.
Models
Buddhasland
is in the process of completing a center
for therapies, treatments and sessions
as well as guest-rooms in Karjan, a small
village in the Kullu valley, Himachal
Pradesh, about 15 km South of Manali.
The center also houses a small Yoga &
meditation hall. Nearby we are establishing
a restaurant that provides good and healthy
food using ingredients from our organic
field. We have access to houses and huts
to do individual or group retreats in
beautiful remote areas. During the next
few years we will build a Temple Garden
with a central main structure that includes
rooms and facilities for teachings and
other related activities. In the surrounding
area we want to build more small and practical
huts for the housing of our guests.
Finances
Until
this year the initiators themselves have
financed Buddhasland. We are now ready
to present the project and generate other
sources of income to move forward. We
urgently need financial support to see
our various programs into action soon.
Buddhasland should be self-sufficient
after a few years, but until then we need
to invest with personal as well as financial
commitments. Any donation will be strictly
used for the purpose of charity and the
aims of the organization as explained
above.
